Lake Hayes

A short 15 minute drive from Queenstown, Lake Hayes is a stunning Lake with 360 mountain views.  A foot path around the lake offers a two to three hour loop walk to enjoy the incredible scenery.

Away from the crowds of the busier Lake Wakatipu, Lake Hayes is a favorite spot with locals who enjoy the serene qualities that the lake and views provide.  Lake Hayes is also a popular spot of cyclists and joggers who take advantage of the loop trail to enjoy magnificant views during their workout.

The rowing club means you can expect to see practice sessions on the lake while kayakers also make use of the calm waters.

The Lake Hayes Scenic Reserve entrance leads to a picnic area where you can park up and enjoy lunch while admiring the beauty in front of you.  During the warmer summer months you'll oftern see families enjoying a BBQ in front of the lake.

The Lake Hayes Pavillion is a small event centre off highway 6, popular for weddings and smaller events. It has a number of free parking spaces to use.

Lake Hayes also plays host to the Lake Hayes A&P Show. Held in January, it's a popular event that features show jumping, sheep shearing, dog trials, petting zoos and children's entertainment.
