Just 26 kilometres from Glenorchy, Kinloch is the perfect place to start one of New Zealand's great walks, or to enjoy the area and spend some time in the outdoors.

Situated halfway between the Routeburn Track and the Greenstone and Caples tracks, Kinloch is a good place to both start and end a walk.

Originally used as a staging point on the route to the West Coast, Kinloch also has its own attractions and keen anglers will enjoy the salmon and trout waiting to be caught in the bay.

The Department of Conservation campsite provides a good low cost option for people wanting to spend longer in Kinloch, while the Kinloch Wilderness Retreat offers accommodation for all budgets including their EcoScapes, Heritage Lodge, and Wilderness rooms, along with dining options.
